Working group of social democrats in the health sector

Doctors, pharmacists and representatives of charities, nursing professions, health insurance companies and health policy initiatives are involved in the Working Group of Social Democrats in Health Care (ASG) of the SPD . The working group is based in Berlin (Willy-Brandt-Haus).

Political goals

The ASG is committed to comprehensive reforms in the health care system , for example through the introduction of solidarity insurance for citizens and through further structural reforms or reforms in the care sector.

history

Founded in 1913, the Working Group of Social Democrats in Health Care is the oldest working group of the SPD. Periodically, the Association organizes conferences on various topics such as the drug policy or for Geriatric Psychiatry .

Armin Lang became chairman of the ASG in November 2006 , and from 1985 to 2009 a member of the Saarland state parliament. He was confirmed in office at the ASG Federal Conference on January 26, 2013.

At the ASG federal conference in February 2015, Thomas Spies was elected federal chairman of the ASG. Boris Velter was elected federal chairman in March 2017 and was confirmed by the ASG federal conference for a further two years in 2019.
