The Bremen-Bremerhaven labor court has been the only labor court in the state of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen since 2004 .

The Bremen-Bremerhaven Labor Court has its seat in Bremen . The judicial district is the entire area of ​​the state. More than 663,000 people live in the 419 km² judicial district.

The main office of the labor court is located in the justice center Am Wall ( Am Wall 198, 28195 Bremen ). In November 2008 the labor court moved into the building at Am Wall 198, 28195 Bremen, which was previously used by the police, and there, together with the regional labor court and the higher regional court, moved closer to the other judicial authorities.

Individual chambers are housed in Bremerhaven , in the former Leh town hall ( Brookstrasse 1, 27580 Bremerhaven ).

Organization and staff

The Bremen Labor Court and the Bremerhaven Labor Court were merged on November 25, 2004 in order to be able to deploy the judicial staff more flexibly. The director of the Bremerhaven Labor Court had resigned on May 31, 2003; at the end of the day only 1.5 judge positions were occupied. Around 12 judges are employed at the Bremen-Bremerhaven labor court. Around 5,000 entries are recorded every year. In 2015 there were 26 employees at the labor court.

The labor court is subordinate to the Bremen regional labor court , which is also based in Bremen. The Federal Labor Court is superordinate to this.

decisions

The Bremen Labor Court attracted attention through an employee-friendly decision on wage usury. In one case in which a monthly wage was paid that was below the social welfare rate at the time, it was assumed that wages were usury, although the standard wage was only slightly below the standard.
