history

The name of the working group was chosen in memory of the socialist and anti-militarist Karl Liebknecht (1871-1919). In the preparations and the establishment of the working group were karl retzlaw , foundation member of the ( Frankfurter Rundschau ), the anarcho-syndicalist Augustin Souchy , the writer Peter Maslowski (1893-1983) and the journalist Peter Bernhardi involved. Bernhardi has been honorary managing director of the working group since 1979. The discussion forum is open to “ leftists and libertarians of all stripes ” (P. Bernhardi). Those involved are of the opinion that, based on their experience, existing organizations such as trade unions, parties and interest groups do not have the basis to discuss political and economic problems freely and without taboos. "Far too often these organizations are only used as springboards for careers to cushy positions, posts, medals and decorations." .

The working group has so far awarded a peace prize eight times. Prize winners were fellow campaigners from unions , political parties and personalities from the extra-parliamentary opposition . The award was donated by the writer Johannes Mario Simmel .

After the defeat of the so-called " Spartacus uprising " on January 15, 1919 , Liebknecht published his last article in the Red Flag under the heading Despite all this . The working group Karl Liebknecht published under this title from 1980 to 2009 an information pamphlet whose subtitle journal of socialist libertarian AK Karl Liebknecht . In addition, the working group published a series of books under the name Kleine Reihe .
