Archible Ribble Dalzell (born September 13, 1911 in Youngstown , Ohio , † July 26, 1992 in Ventura , California ) was an American cameraman .

Life

Archie Ribble Dalzell received his training in photography and camera technology in the early 1930s and worked in all sorts of subordinate functions behind the camera until the end of the same decade, most recently in 1939 for the anti-Nazi propaganda film I was a Nazi spy . After his military service until 1945, Dalzell returned to film and was now employed by Paramount Pictures as a (often unnamed) simple cameraman (so-called camera operator) for prominent A-entertainment films such as The Virginian, The Unconquered and His Angel with the Two Pistols . Dalzell's main occupation remained the simple camera in cheaply made B-Westerns until the 1950s. Ernest Miller was often the head cameraman . In between (1950) he was seen with a single tiny appearance - of course as a cameraman - in Billy Wilder's Hollywood drama Boulevard of Twilight .

After almost a dozen years, Dalzell rose to head cameraman in 1957, but was mostly limited to B-productions (such as Roger Corman's Little Shop Full of Horrors , The Mass Murderer of London and The Trip ) and episodes of individual television series. He did regular camerawork on the series Panic !, The Restless Gun, Wells Fargo, Flight, The Rebel, Mr. Ed , The Addams Family , Accidental Family, Neu im Einsatz , An American Family , Love Boat and Hotel . In between, Dalzell also received engagements from the 1960s B-movie (primarily the genres Western, horror and science fiction films) and for individual TV productions (primarily from the early 1970s and early 1980s). After an episode for the television crime series Murder is Her Hobby , Arch R. Dalzell retired into private life in 1985.

Dazell was the father of cameraman Dennis Dalzell (1935–2012), camera assistant David Dalzell (1939–2009) and script supervisor Patricia "Patti" Jane Dalzell (* 1941). His grandsons Dwight Dalzell (* 1963) and Robin Dale (* 1965) also work as photographers and camera assistants. In addition, his great-grandchildren Chelsea Orduno and Justin Dalzell also work as makeup artists and production assistants in the film business.
