The Archive for Legal and Social Philosophy (ARSP) is an interdisciplinary and international quarterly specialist journal for state theory , legal philosophy and social philosophy founded in 1907 . The journal is published on behalf of the International Association for Legal and Social Philosophy (IVR), for which it serves as the publication organ, and is published by Franz Steiner Verlag . The articles, which are written in different languages (including German, French, English and Spanish), go through a peer-reviewed process before publication . The lead editor of the ARSP is Ulfrid Neumann . The editor in charge is in the hands of Annette Brockmöller .

The magazine is aimed primarily at lawyers , sociologists and philosophers . Until 1933 the magazine appeared under the name Archive for Legal and Economic Philosophy (ARWP). Founding editors were Fritz Berolzheimer and Josef Kohler . The publishing house “Verlagbuchhandlung Dr. Walther Rothschild ”under the direction of Walther Rothschild based in Berlin. From the February issue of 1936 Otto von Schweinichen became editor of the magazine. His successor in this function was Jürgen von Kempski . During this period, the ARSP was characterized by an “astonishing degree of neutrality” for German legal magazines at the time, whereby the attitude of the editors Schweinichen and Kempski can be regarded as a possible explanation for this. The magazine was re- founded in 1949 by Theodor Viehweg .

The ARSP has published a series of publications under the name “Beihefte” since 1960.
