Archivists Without Borders ( Spanish Archiveros sin Fronteras , Catalan Arxivers sense Fronteres , AsF) is an international non-governmental organization and member of the International Archives Council (CIA), which was founded in Barcelona (Spain) in 1998 and has its headquarters there. It was created with the aim of uniting forces in archiving and promoting human rights and the like. a. to be used in the area of cultural heritage and memory.
The organization has implemented projects in Equatorial Guinea , Niger , Mozambique , since 2004 in Morocco and since 2006 in the Democratic Arab Republic of the Sahara . In Latin America she supported the Bogotá city archives from 1998 to 2004 , archivists in Nicaragua and El Salvador from 2002 to 2004 , the city archives of Otavalo and the diocese of Riobamba in 2006 and the archives of the Policía Nacional of Guatemala in 2007 . In Argentina from 2003 to 2004 she worked on the creation of a documentation center on the life and work of Che Guevara and in 2004 on the search for the Cédula Real of the territories of the Quilmes community. In 2003 she trained the archivists of the Comissão Pastoral da Terra in Brazil and digitized the estate of Pedro Casaldáliga from 2000–2004 . The AsF has also been helping to maintain the archives of the military dictatorships in the southern cone since 2006 . Between 2000 and 2004 she worked with the NGO Paz Ahora in Sarajevo and Banja Luka after the ex-Yugoslav wars.
There are sections of the Archivists Without Borders . a. in France ( Archivistes sans frontières , ASF-France) and Latin American countries.
