The Archsum was built in 1957 by the Nobiskrug shipyard with construction number 603 for the Nordfriesische Reederei in Kampen on Sylt as a cargo ship with a load capacity of 6400 tdw .

history

The freighter Archsum was ordered by the Rendsburg shipping company Thomas Entz & Sohn and was launched on October 12, 1957. The ship successfully completed its test drive in December 1957 and was delivered on December 30, 1957. The correspondent owner was Zerssen & Co. , Rendsburg. The new building was named after the town of Archsum on the island of Sylt and means settlement of the Arke or Erke.

Ship description

The Archsum had a length Lpp of 103.5 m and a width of 15 m. She was measured as a freighter with 4185 GRT as a full-decker and had a load capacity of 6400 tdw. The four-stroke engines built by MWM had a nominal power of 1618 kW each. They gave the ship a nominal speed of 14.5 knots.
