Ari Luusua (born March 5, 1988 in Simo ) is a Finnish cross-country skier .

Career

Luusua has mainly participated in the Scandinavian Cup since 2007. He achieved his first podium finishes in December 2011 in Vuokatti with two third places over 15 km. In the 2013/14 season he came second twice and took his first victory in the Scandinavian Cup in the sprint in Otepää . At the end of the season, he finished fifth in the overall standings. He ran his first World Cup race in March 2011 in Lahti in which he was lapped. A day later, he reached 33rd place in the sprint. In the 2011/12 season he achieved 67th place at the Nordic Opening in Kuusamo and 47th place at the 2011/12 Tour de Ski . He got his first World Cup points with the 25th place in the sprint in Toblach . At the Nordic Opening in Ruka at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, he finished 70th. In the 2017/18 season he finished 48th in the Ruka Triple and 40th in the Tour de Ski 2017/18 . In 2018 and 2019 he won the Finlandia-hiihto over 50 km classic. In April 2018 he became Finnish sprint champion in Taivalvaara .
