Ariane Müller-Ressing

Ariane Müller-Ressing (born December 4, 1947 in Düsseldorf ) is a German economist who does a variety of voluntary work. In 2018 she received the Federal Medal of Merit on behalf of the state government of Baden-Württemberg for her long-standing commitment to refugee work . In 2013 she was awarded the citizen's prize of the CDU district group Sillenbuch / Heumaden / Riedenberg.

Sociopolitical engagement

Müller-Ressing began its involvement in 1980 as Elternbeirätin and parents 'council chairman in kindergarten and at school, as well as a member of the Parents' Council Baden-Wuerttemberg . She was active in the child protection association and supports the wild water association in Stuttgart ; she took part in the local agenda and in neighborhood help . In 1992, Müller-Ressing co-founded the city-wide first asylum district in Heumaden - Sillenbuch, which emerged from the Asylum Contact Group, and has been involved in refugee aid with nationwide coverage ever since .

Together with the Stuttgart Community Foundation , she coordinated a round table for 35 people active in refugee work and in 2015 received the Active Citizenship Award in the category “Participation” for the Stuttgart Community Foundation . As the honorary chairman of the board of the “Working Group for One World”, she advises those involved in refugee work nationwide and is still a regular contact person in refugee accommodation . Her expertise was incorporated into the qualitative study by the Berlin Institute for Empirical Integration and Migration Research , the results of which are published in the Bertelsmann study "Coordination Models and Challenges of Voluntary Refugee Aid in the Municipalities".

On February 16, 2018, she was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her extraordinary socio-political commitment.
