Ariel Washington Hukporti (born April 12, 2002 in Stralsund ) is a German basketball player of Togolese descent. He is in the squad of the Lithuanian club KK Nevėžis Kėdainiai .

career

Born in Stralsund , Hukporti played soccer as a teenager and then switched to basketball and the sport that his mother also played. The left-hander played in the youth division of USC Freiburg and played in the youth basketball league . Following the 2015/16 season, Hukporti received offers from several Bundesliga clubs, including Bayern Munich , Bamberg , Ulm and Ludwigsburg. He decided to move to Ludwigsburg, where he played in the youth field from the 2016/17 season. In mid-January 2019, Hukporti made his debut in the basketball Bundesliga in the game against Bayreuth in the jersey of the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg . In February 2020, he took part in a screening event organized by the world association FIBA and the NBA in Chicago ( Basketball Without Borders Global Camp ) and was honored there as the best player. In the 2019/20 season he was German runner-up with Ludwigsburg, he scored 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per match in the Bundesliga during the season.

In July 2020 he moved to KK Nevėžis Kėdainiai in the first division of Lithuania, Lietuvos krepšinio lyga .

National team

In June 2017, Hukporti played his first international matches for the German U16 national team, and in April 2018 he won the Albert Schweitzer tournament with the U18 national team . In summer 2018 he was part of the German team at the U16 European Championship. In the course of the tournament he was a top performer in the DBB selection with 9.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He finished eleventh at the U18 European Championship in 2019 and averaged 10.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per encounter during the tournament in Greece.
