João Kussumua

João Baptista Kussumua (born June 16, 1956 in Tchiuia, Embala , Huambo Province ) is an Angolan politician of the liberation movement and party Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA).

Life

Reserve officer, lecturer and deputy minister

João Baptista Kussumua, son of Jundo Kussumua and his wife Chokaliye, attended the Escola de Kaputo e Missão Católica da Gandavira in Huambo between 1965 and 1971 and the Seminário Católico do Quipeio in Caála from 1972 to 1974 and then the Seminário Católico between 1975 and 1976 do N'jaú in Lubango . After completing his studies, João Kussumua worked from 1986 to 1988 as a research assistant and lecturer in economic geography and biogeography at the Scientific Institute for Educational Sciences at the Universidade Agostinho Neto. In personal union he was also head of the department for natural sciences as well as the documentation and information center of this institute. At the VII Congress of the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) from August 17 to 20, 2016, João Baptista Kussumua was elected to the MPLA Central Committee. At the same time he became First Secretary of the MPLA Committee of Huambo Province and on September 28, 2017 also Governor of Huambo Province. In the elections of 23 August 2017 , he was for the constituency of the province of Huambo member of the National Assembly (Assembleia Nacional) and Member of Parliament 2.
