Aris is a white wine variety from a cross of Oberlin 716 and Riesling from 1937. Due to the influence of the Oberlin 716 breed, it is a hybrid grape . The new breed was developed under the direction of Bernhard Husfeld at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute in Müncheberg , at the successor institution, the Federal Institute for Breeding Research on Cultivated Plants - Institute for Vine Breeding Geilweilerhof , it was further developed in breeding.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics
- The shoot tip is open. She is not hairy. The young leaves are also hairless and colored bronze ( anthocyanin ).
- The shiny leaves are three- to five-lobed and barely curved (see also the article leaf shape ). The stem bay is open in a U-shape. The sheet is serrated to a point. The teeth are medium-sized compared to the grape varieties.
- The cylindrical grape is small. The round berries are small and green in color.
Maturity: early
properties
It tends to trickle down and small berries and thus to limited and strongly fluctuating yields. The grape variety is resistant to fungal diseases such as real and downy mildew (Oidium) and raw rot .

Due to strongly fluctuating yields, the variety could not establish itself in cultivation.
