Aristocles (sculptor 6th century BC)
Aristocles ( Greek Ἀριστοκλῆς ) was a Greek sculptor who worked in the second half of the 6th century BC. Was active.
Aristocles was active in Attica . According to an inscription - ἔργον Ἀριστοκλέος "Work of Aristocles" - he was the creator of a well-known tomb, the grave stele of Aristion , which was found in Velanideza in 1839 , which was built around 510 BC for reasons of style. Is dated. In addition, several other bases were found that name Aristocles as a sculptor and were built into the Themistocles wall . Josef Floren attributes other works to him from this period. Other works and stylistic connections are also suggested in the research. An identity with an ore-maker of the same name from Sikyon or a sculptor of the same name from Kydonia can not be proven .
