The uninhabited island of Arkoudi ( Greek Αρκούδι [ arˈkuði ] ( n. Sg. ) To αρκούδα 'bear') is located in the Ionian Sea between the islands of Lefkada and Ithaca , about five kilometers away from both. Belonging to Lefkada Prefecture since 1864, the island was incorporated into the municipality of Ithaca at the end of the 20th century.

At the end of the 20th century, the island was acquired by a South African consortium, which, under the leadership of Giorgos Stavroupoulos, is planning the development and settlement of the island for wealthy private individuals. A villa park with 140 exclusive private residences, a shopping center, hotel, tennis and equestrian venues and an 18-hole golf course are to be built here for around 100 million euros. The area of ​​the island, which is not open to the public, is intended to create jobs for 300 people. It is not yet known when these plans will be implemented.
