Armin Rosin

Armin Rosin (born February 21, 1939 in Karlsbad ) is a German musicologist , conductor and musician .

Life

Armin Rosin studied the trombone at the Munich University of Music and Theater . He received his state examination there in 1962. From 1962 to 1967 Rosin studied musicology, history and library science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In his senior year he received a doctoral scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation . From 1963 to 1966 Armin Rosin received conducting lessons from Joseph Keilberth (formerly the Prague German Philharmonic). In 1964/1965 he attended summer conducting courses with Herbert von Karajan and István Kertész ( Mozarteum Salzburg ). From 1971 to 1977 Rosin took conducting lessons from Sergiu Celibidache . At the age of 21, Rosin was solo trombonist with the Bamberg Symphony . At the age of 28 he switched to the Radio Symphony Orchestra (under Celibidache) in Stuttgart .

In 1973 he made the world's first record with trombone concerts. With this recording he succeeded in re-introducing the trombone as a solo instrument in concert halls in Europe. He was also the first in Korea to perform as a trombone soloist with the Seoul National Orchestra or in Taiwan with the Taibei National Orchestra. Over 60 compositions were written by composers especially for him. In 2001 he premiered the last work by Hindemith's student Harald Genzmer, which was dedicated to him . On behalf of Universal-Edition, Vienna, he wrote a trombone school in 1976 with new teaching and playing methods based on the latest knowledge in education. The DOV commissioned him with the co-authorship of their audition booklet for orchestras. Rosin is President of the International Brass Competition of South Korea and a juror at internationally important music competitions (ARD-Munich, Markneukirchen, Geneva, Prager Frühling , Moscow, Gaudeamus Amsterdam) where he was invited to represent Germany. In 1980 he was appointed to a full professorship for trombone at the Stuttgart Music Academy.

Rosin is married, has three children and lives in Stuttgart.

Honors

In 1962 Rosin received the Gaudeamus-Interpretenpreis-Amsterdam. He received the golden plaque of honor of the city of Fellbach in 1966. In 1978 he was awarded the Sudeten German Culture Prize for the performing arts, in 1990 he was appointed a full member of the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts; he is currently the assistant secretary of his class. Armin Rosin was also honored with an entry in Riemann's music dictionary. In 2003 he was awarded the Great Sudeten German Culture Prize , in 2005 with the honorary citizenship of Jeju (South Korea), in 2008 with the Johann Wenzel Stamitz Music Prize, in 2010 with the Nordgaupreis of the Upper Palatinate Cultural Association in the category "Music" and in 2013 with the Egerland Culture Prize " Johannes-von-Tepl “ awarded.
