Armin Springer

Max Armin Springer (born July 28, 1870 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ; died in 1942 in the Treblinka extermination camp ) was an Austrian actor , comedian and vocal humorist .

Life

Armin Springer first appeared as a comedian and actor in the Budapest Orpheum in Vienna in 1906 . 1907–1908 he was engaged as an actor and director in Eisenbach's Budapest Varieté and performed as a duet with Willi Schulhoff . He played in the Vienna Volkstheater , in the Cabaret Pavilion (I., Walfischgasse 11) and in the Simpl Cabaret . In the 1930s he was a member of the ensemble in the Theater der Komiker (VI., Linke Wienzeile 6), where he appeared in one-act plays with Fritz Grünbaum , Armin Berg and Hans Moser . At Varieté Reklame (II., Praterstrasse 34) Springer directed plays in which Hans Moser took part.

The comedian trio Armin Berg / Sandor Rott / Armin Springer was famous in Varieté Leicht , where he was on stage with his 14-year-old niece Elisa Springer, who sometimes took part in a sketch. Springer was close friends with Fritz Grünbaum and Hermann Leopoldi .

He was married twice but had no children. His second wife was the actress Helene Springer (born January 9, 1888).

On July 28, 1942, Springer was deported to Theresienstadt, and on September 21, 1942, on the transport Bp-947 to Treblinka, where he was murdered. When she returned from the concentration camp in 1945, his niece Elisa Springer was taken in by Helene Springer in Vienna.
