Armindo Vaz d'Almeida

Armindo Vaz d'Almeida (* 1953 ; † July 2016 ) was Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe from 1995 to 1996 .

Political career

He belonged to the former unity party Movimento de Libertação de São Tomé e Príncipe (MLSTP-PSD) and became Prime Minister on December 31, 1995, when his party friend Carlos da Graça , whose deputy he was previously, resigned. He formed a three-party coalition government and was in office until November 19, 1996. His government was dismissed by President Miguel Trovoada after parliament failed to trust him in mid-September 1996 and was replaced by a new coalition government. His own party, the MLSTP-PSD, initiated the vote of confidence and accused his government of inefficiency and corruption . He was expelled from the party towards the end of the year.
