The Armstrong River is a river in the northwest of the Australian Territory Northern Territory . Often it has little or no water in the dry season .

geography

River course

The river has its source in low sand hills at a height of 280 m, about 33 kilometers east of Top Springs . It first flows west and crosses under the Buchanan Highway and soon after the Buntine Highway immediately south of Top Springs . About 20 kilometers west, at the confluence of Coolibah Creek , it turns its course to the southwest and flows into the Victoria River about five kilometers north of Pigeon Hole , east of Gregory National Park .
