Barbara Budrich

Barbara Budrich (born January 23, 1965 in Leverkusen ) is a German publisher , translator and publicist .

Life

After completing her apprenticeship as a publishing clerk with an IHK degree in 1985, she did a publishing internship at Harper & Row in Sydney . From 1987 to 1993 she studied English , geography and sociology in Cologne , Berlin and St Andrews and completed her studies with an MA degree in 1993.

In the same year she began working as an editor at the Leske + Budrich publishing house in Leverkusen- Opladen, founded by her father Edmund Budrich . In 2004, after Leske + Budrich was sold to Bertelsmann Springer, Barbara Budrich founded her own company, the Barbara Budrich publishing house . In 2007 Budrich UniPress was added, this publishing house was transferred to the Budrich Academic Press publishing house in 2019. In 2008 she founded Text-Uni together with Claudia Kühne  - budrich training since 2012  - and organizes seminars, lectures and workshops on scientific presentation, publishing and writing.

All parts of the Budrich Group are grouped under the name Budrich Academic, just like the Budrich Agency (agency for internal and external science communication ) founded in 2012.

Since 2011 Budrich ambassador for the business location Leverkusen, member of the Advisory Board of the New Learning Initiative eV 2015 it was the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy 'company women' as a model entrepreneur initiative excellent.

She has written numerous publications on the subject of " Scientific Publishing " and translations (English-German), including Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela : Das Erbe der Apartheid (2006) and Mike Michalowicz: Profit First (2015).

Barbara Budrich is married and has three sons.
