Arnd Barocka

Arnd Barocka (* 1952 in Oelsnitz in Vogtland ) is a German psychiatrist and clinic director.

Barocka studied human medicine from 1970 to 1977 at the Universities of Heidelberg , Vienna and Hamburg and graduated with the medical state examination in 1977. In 1978, he was charged with a dissertation on the subject of "psychological impact load in patients with heart attack," Dr. med. PhD . From 1978 to 1999 he worked as a neurologist , psychiatrist and psychotherapist at the University Clinics Erlangen-Nürnberg. In 1988 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on "Problems of ethical norms in psychiatry"and was appointed private lecturer . In 1990 he was appointed to a professorship for psychiatry at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Most recently, he was acting director of the psychiatric clinic and polyclinic at the university. In 1991 he was a Research Fellow at the Dept. of Psychiatry, Addenbrooke's Hospital, University of Cambridge, England.

In 1999 Barocka left the university and began working as medical director and chief physician of the department for general psychiatry and psychotraumatology at the Hohe Mark clinic in Oberursel im Taunus. Among other things, he is a lecturer in the MA course in practical theology of the "Christian Theology Close to Life" group of the St. Chrischona Theological Seminary in Basel , the Tabor Theological Seminary in Marburg and the Theological Seminary of the Liebenzeller Mission in Bad Liebenzell . He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Institute for Youth and Society (DIJG). He is a diaconal employee of the German Diaconal Association in Marburg, co-organizer of the “Frankfurt Psychiatry Symposia”, founding member of the Academy for Psychotherapy and Pastoral Care (APS) and spokesman for the editorial board of the journal “Psychotherapy and Pastoral Care”.
