Christopher (Chris) Steven Mihm (born July 16, 1979 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is a retired American basketball player who was active in the NBA for nine years . He is 2.13 meters (7 feet ) tall , weighs approximately 120 kg and played in the center position.
Career
Mihm played in college for the University of Texas at Austin , and was signed by the Chicago Bulls as the 7th player in the so-called NBA Draft in 2000 and given to the Cleveland Cavaliers a few minutes later in a pre-arranged trade against Jamal Crawford . After three good years in Cleveland, he moved to the Boston Celtics in the 2003-2004 season . After a season in Boston, Mihm joined the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Rick Fox and Gary Payton . There he succeeded Shaquille O'Neal on the center position. In particular, he improved his game under the basket significantly, but suffered a serious ankle injury in March 2006, which has since forced him to take longer breaks.
In his NBA career, Mihm averaged 7.5 points, 1 block and 5.3 rebounds per game. At the LA Lakers, these values had improved greatly in the last season 2005-2006 before his injury to over 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. On February 18, 2009, the Lakers traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies for a second round draft pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. For the Grizzlies, he did not play a single game after an ankle surgery. Due to injury, he ended his career in the same year.
As a college student, Mihm won the gold medal with the USA team at the 1999 Universiade in Spain. He was also named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2001 .
