Quotes

  • The art critic Jürgen Kisters writes about Arne-Bernd Rhaue: "Rhaue's characters are vicious and vulnerable creatures, powerful and helpless creatures, full of dynamism and uncanny persistence, lonely beings and paired beings, entangled in a tumult of moving elements or entangled in nothing but They appear raw and also again tender. It is about suffering and joy, violence and vulnerability, birth and death, but by no means loaded theoretically and in cerebral complexity, but very simple and direct. He paints in oil and with pigments on solid Paper and he creates his figures on dolomite stones that are thousands of years old (catalog "Tenerife", exhibition Galerie BMB Amsterdam 1998)
  • The Cologne exhibition organizer Friedhelm Mennekes says about Rhaue: "On the whole he has few parallels. If I follow his development of the characters, then I can name big names, such as Giacometti. I can also name Brodwolf. I can always say, at least As for the stone horniness, he is very close to Alfred Hrdlicka and other great knotters and hammers of our time. But he is a loner.
