The 32nd Arnhem – Veenendaal Classic 2017 was a Dutch road bike race with start and finish in Veenendaal after 195.8 km . It took place on Friday , August 18, 2017 . It was also part of the UCI Europe Tour 2017 and classified there in category 1.1 .

The winner in the sprint of around 30 riders was the Slovene Luka Mezgec from Orica-Scott ahead of the Dutchman Wouter Wippert from the Cannondale Drapac Professional Cycling Team .

route

After the start in Veenendaal, the route first ran into the surrounding area of ​​Veenendaal. The route was relatively flat. After about 120 kilometers you reached Veenendaal for the first time. Race course

After the start, around 35 drivers drove away from the field. They had a lead of a maximum of 40 seconds and were already back after 35 kilometers. Then nine drivers attacked, including Theo Reinhardt (Germany / rad-net) and Lukas Spengler (Switzerland / WB Veranclassic). Their maximum advantage was three minutes in the initial continuous rain, which subsided towards the goal. A few kilometers before the finish line, all the outliers were set and a mass sprint started. This was won by the Slovenian Luka Mezgec (Orica) ahead of Wouter Wippert (Netherlands / Cannondale Drapac).
