Arniel Ferrera (born March 22, 1981 ) is a Filipino hammer thrower .

Career

Arniel Ferrera gained his first international experience in 2001 when he won the bronze medal behind the Malaysian Wong Tee Kue and Ong Kok Hin from Indonesia at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur with a width of 51.07 m . Two years later he finished eighth at the Asian Championships in Manila with 54.55 m and then won the Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi with a throw of 55.28 m. In 2005 and 2006 Ferrera was the Philippine hammer throw champion. In 2005 he finished seventh at the Asian Championships in Incheon, South Korea with 58.61 m and then defended his title at the Southeast Asian Games in Manila with a new player record of 60.47 m. The following year he took part in the Asian Games in Doha for the first time and reached seventh place with 57.50 m. In 2007 he was classified at the Asian Championships in Amman with 55.47 m in eighth place and at the Southeast Asian Games in Nakhon Ratchasima he improved the player record to 60.98 m, which he secured his third gold medal in a row.

In 2009 he won again at the Southeast Asian Games in Vientiane with a new personal best of 61.62 m and in 2010 he reached ninth place at the Asian Games in Guangzhou with 58.06 m. Also at the 2011 Asian Athletics Championships in Kobe , he finished ninth with 59.25 m and then won the silver medal behind the Thai Tantipong Phetchaiya at the Southeast Asian Games in Palembang with 60.19 m . In 2013 he reached twelfth place at the Asian Championships in Pune with 61.39 m and again won the silver medal behind the Thai Phetchaiya at the Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw with 61.18 m. In 2015 he finished fourth at the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore with 60.08 m, and in 2017 he won the bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur with 55.94 m behind Malaysian Jackie Wong Siew Cheer and Kittipong Boonmawan from Thailand. In 2019 he finished fifth at the Southeast Asian Games in Capas with 57.26 m.

In 2005 and 2006 Ferrera was the Philippine hammer throw champion.
