Arno Hecht (pathologist)

Arno Hecht (born May 28, 1932 in Gumbinnen , East Prussia ; † July 15, 2014 in Auerbach / Vogtl. ) Was a German pathologist in East Berlin and Leipzig.

Life

From 1950 to 1955, Hecht studied medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin . After the compulsory assistant at the Charité and the doctorate to Dr. med. In 1956 he entered the Institute for Pathology at the Charité. Specialist in pathology and pathological anatomy since 1960 , he headed the histochemistry department at the Charité Institute for Pathology from 1961 . In 1963 he completed his habilitation in pathology. He became senior physician in 1964 and was director of research at the Charité from 1970 to 1973. In 1977 he became full professor for pathological anatomy in the medicine department of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. He was involved in the European Group for Research on Cardiac Muscle Metabolism (1968–1975) and in the Council of the European Society for Pathology (1979–1989). He was chairman of the Working Group on Philosophical and Philosophical Problems in Medicine (1980–1985) and sat on the Presidium of the Society for Experimental Medicine of the GDR (1986–1990). After the Leipzig Ordinariate was confirmed in 1991, he was dismissed from university in 1993. He moved to Auerbach, where his wife was from. Retired after three years of unemployment since 1996, he devoted himself to the scientific history of the German Democratic Republic in comparison with the old Federal Republic . He died at the age of 82.
