Arno Lubos

Arno Joachim Lubos (born February 9, 1928 in Beuthen , Province of Upper Silesia , † November 14, 2006 in Schweinfurt ) was a German teacher, literary historian and writer .

Life

Arno Lubos was deployed as an air force helper at the end of the Second World War and was taken prisoner by the Americans. After his release, he attended grammar school in Bamberg and graduated from high school in 1948. He studied German at the Philosophical-Theological University of Bamberg and the University of Erlangen . From 1956 until his retirement in 1990 he worked as a high school teacher, since 1961 at the Casimirianum Coburg . In 1978 he was at the University of Frankfurt with a thesis on Silesian literature of Romanticism and Popular romance Dr. phil. doctorate , after he had in 1956 published a first book on the Silesian romance.

With Hermann Glaser and Jakob Lehmann, he published the literary history Paths of German Literature in 1961 , which had more than 30 editions. His three-volume History of the Literature of Silesia was published between 1960 and 1974. He also wrote several biographical monographs on Silesian writers.

As a writer, he published essays and short stories. His novel Schwiebus. A German novel was published in 1980 and dealt with the fiction of a war won by the National Socialists. Twelve years later he dealt with post-war history in the novel The Story of August Maltsam .

Arno Lubos has been a member of the PEN Center Germany since 1978 . In 1967 he received the sponsorship award from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
