Arnold F. Riedhammer
Arnold F. Riedhammer (* 1947 in Somerville (New Jersey) ) is a German-American musician, composer and arranger. He is solo drummer with the Munich Philharmonic and the Blechschaden group .
Life
Riedhammer was born in Somerville (New Jersey) to German-American parents and received drum lessons at the age of eight. In 1958 the family returned to Germany. From 1966 to 1970 he studied at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich and passed his exam in 1970 with distinction from the City of Munich.
From 1970 to 1971 he was principal timpanist with the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra , from 1971 to 1974 principal timpanist in the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn . From 1974 he was solo drummer and timpanist with the Munich Philharmonic and senior lecturer at the Munich University of Music .
He recorded numerous productions of percussion concerts with the Munich Philharmonic for Bayerischer Rundfunk .
In 1978, ZDF broadcast André Jolivet's percussion concert with Arnold and the Bamberg Symphony . He then played numerous solo percussion concerts at home and abroad.
In 1980 he passed the soloist diploma in solo percussion at the State University of Music in Trossingen .
In 1981 he was awarded the State Prize for Drums for the first time.
As a drummer in the symphonic orchestra, he played concerts and recordings with conductors such as Leonard Bernstein , Sergiu Celibidache , Sir Colin Davis , James Levine , Herbert von Karajan , Lorin Maazel , Zubin Mehta , Seiji Ozawa , Wolfgang Sawallisch , Sir Georg Solti , Christian Thielemann , and others . a.
In pop and rock music he played concerts and recordings with The Rolling Stones , Freddie Mercury and Queen , Liza Minnelli , Donna Summer , Henry Mancini , Udo Jürgens , Chris de Burgh and others.
With the group "Blechschaden", the brass section of the Munich Philharmonic, he received the German Record Prize Echo twice .
