Arnold Grabner

Arnold Grabner (born June 15, 1939 in Wiener Neustadt ) is an Austrian trade unionist and politician ( SPÖ ) at rest. Grabner was a member of the Austrian National Council between 1981 and 2001 .

education and profession

Arnold Grabner completed an apprenticeship as a motor vehicle mechanic after primary and secondary school and did military service in 1962. He also attended evening courses at the ÖGB and the Chamber of Labor .

Grabner worked as a motor vehicle mechanic and was employed by the Hallein engine works . He worked for the Austrian Trade Union Federation and from 1961 worked in the district secretariat Wiener Neustadt and from 1965 district secretary.

politics

Arnold Grabner was sponsored by the mayor Hans Barwitzius and was councilor in Wiener Neustadt from 1969 and 1974 and councilor from 1974 to 1981. In 1975 he was elected deputy mayor and remained in this position until 1981. On October 1, 1981, Grabner moved into the National Council and represented the SPÖ there until December 31, 2001, when he retired at the end of the year.

From 1979 onwards, Grabner was deputy city party chairman of the SPÖ Wiener Neustadt and district chairman of the SPÖ Wiener Neustadt. He was a member of the state party presidium of Lower Austria, the state party executive committee and the federal party executive committee.

Grabner was president of the ASKÖ Lower Austria and is the chairman of the "Friends of 1. SC Wiener Neustadt " association. Grabner was also Vice President of the Austrian Olympic Committee .
