The Arroyo Itacumbú is a small river in northern Uruguay .

The creek, which is about 57 km long in the Artigas department, has its source in the range of hills known as Cuchilla Guaviyú , about six kilometers north of the city of Baltasar Brum .

The stream, which initially flows north, is dammed up after about six kilometers by an earth dam and used for agricultural irrigation of sugar cane plantations . This main dam is located just south of the Estancia Yucutuja . On the following section, the brook takes on a dozen nameless spring brooks. These can also be dammed if necessary and form the northern part of the irrigation system. At the level of the Estancia Paso de María Cuedes , a narrow strip of alluvial forest begins to line the banks. The Arroyo Itacumbú River passes the small town of Tomás Gomensoro about six kilometers west of the locality and changes its main flow direction to the southwest north of this city. In the last two thousand meters, west of the Estancia Paso Juan Matos , the river passes a swampy riparian forest with large pools of water. At the level of the city of Mones Quintela it flows into the Río Uruguay . Opposite the estuary is the Isla Itacumbú river island .
