Arsen Harutjunjan ( Armenian Արսեն Հարությունյան ; born March 16, 1968 in Zaghkadzor ) is a former Armenian ski racer .
Career
Harutjunjan made his international debut at the Russian Open Championships in March and April 1995. In February 1996, he started at two FIS races in Chamonix . In the Alpine World Ski Championships held shortly afterwards in 1996 in the Spanish Sierra Nevada , he reached 40th place in giant slalom before retiring from the slalom race. A year later at the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1997 in Sestriere , he was eliminated in giant slalom and slalom. As a result, Harutjunjan continued to compete in international FIS races, as Armenia has no starting place in the World Cup. In Palandöken on April 2, 1998 he was able to finish second on the podium for the first time. Shortly before that, he started at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano , where he finished 27th in slalom. Only a year later he was registered again internationally, but did not start in both races at the 1999 Alpine World Ski Championships in Beaver Creek despite reports.
At the Alpine World Ski Championships 2001 in St. Anton am Arlberg , Harutjunjan was part of the Armenian World Cup team for the fourth time. After finishing 42nd in the giant slalom, he finished the slalom race in 48th place. After four more years, in which he was eliminated from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City without a result, Harutjunjan ended his active career in March 2005 with a start at the open Polish championships.
