Arthur Chichester, 8th Baronet
Sir Arthur Chichester, 8th Baronet (born October 4, 1822 in Youlston Park , † July 13, 1898 in Youlston Park) was a British nobleman.
Arthur Chichester came from a line of the Chichester family , an old family of gentry from Devon . He was the eldest son of Sir Arthur Chichester, 7th Baronet and his wife Charlotte Hamlyn-Williams . He attended Eton College and then entered the British Army . By 1847 he had reached the rank of captain in the 7th Hussars . After his father's death in 1842, he inherited his estates, including the manor at Youlston Park at Barnstaple and the title of Baronet , of Raleigh in the County of Devon. He later served as Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant of Devon. In 1862 he became Colonel of Honor of the North Devon Yeomanry Cavalry . However, he ran into financial difficulties and had to declare his bankruptcy around 1870. As a result, he had to lease large parts of the park of his residence Youlston Park in 1879.
Chichester had married Mary Nicholetts , daughter of John Nicholetts , on November 20, 1847 . He had several children with her, including:

After the death of his first wife, on January 23, 1883, he married Rosalie Chichester , the widow of his distant relative Bruce Chichester of Arlington . The marriage remained childless. His heir became his eldest son, Edward Chichester. His younger son Charles Chichester was the father of circumnavigator Francis Chichester .
