Arthur Cohn (rabbi)

Arthur Cohn (* February 1862 in Flatow , Prussia ; † March 19, 1926 in Basel ) was a German-Swiss rabbi .

Arthur Cohn was Orthodox and the first full-time rabbi of the Basel Israelite community from 1885 until the end of his life ; until then their rabbinate was exercised by the rabbis of Hégenheim . At the first Zionist Congress in 1897 he gave a short address in which he demanded an official declaration on the relationship between Zionism and religion (Protocol, 1911 edition, 215). Cohn initially supported Zionism.

He was the grandfather of the film producer Arthur Cohn .
