Arthur Weineck (born February 4, 1900 in Zittau , † August 16, 1944 in Dresden ) was a Dresden worker functionary and resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

Arthur Weineck, a plumber by profession , came into contact with the labor movement at an early age through his father, who himself was an active functionary of the SPD . He was a member of the Socialist Workers' Youth , from 1922 the SPD and from 1928 in the KPD . As the district leader of the KPD, he headed political work in the Inner Dresden Neustadt from the workers' home in the Körnergarten on Grosse Meißner Strasse.

During the " seizure of power " by the NSDAP , he initially managed to evade the threat of arrest for a few weeks. When Arthur Weineck was arrested on March 30, 1933, he was first taken to the police headquarters , then to the Mathildenstrasse detention center and later to the Hohnstein concentration camp (near Sebnitz , Saxon Switzerland). After being detained for 33 weeks, he was released, but immediately resumed illegal work. In his private apartment, illegal leaflets were produced, which were distributed at great risk.

In 1943 Weineck joined the resistance group of Herbert Blochwitz and Kurt Schlosser . Together with the leading activists of this group, he was arrested on December 3, 1943 and sentenced to death on June 30, 1944. On August 16, 1944, Weineck, Kurt Schlosser, Herbert Blochwitz and Otto Galle were executed with the guillotine in Dresden.

Weineck's urn grave is located in the honor grove of the Dresden Heidefriedhof .
