Artmania Festival
The ARTmania Festival is an art festival in Transylvania in the Romanian city of Sibiu . The festival, an ARTmania project , took place for the first time in the summer of 2006 and has been organized every summer on the Great Ring of Sibiu since then . The participants come from Romanian cities as well as from European countries.
The ARTmania Festival wants to create an intercultural exchange and counts among other things. a. in addition to the International Theater Festival in Sibiu and the Transilvania International Film Festival, one of the ten most important artistic and cultural events in Romania in summer.
music
Music is at the center of the festival. Every year, rock and metal bands perform in the Great Ring (Piaţa Mare) during the first weekend of the festival. Occurred u. a. Nightwish , HIM , Opeth , Amorphis , Anathema , Lacrimosa , Kamelot , Dark Tranquility , The Gathering , Lacuna Coil , Tarja Turunen , Sonata Arctica , Poets of the Fall , Epica , My Dying Bride , Die Toten Hosen and Within Temptation .
The annual festival in Sibiu became known for promoting gothic metal artists. However, in the following years the supported genres extended to heavy metal as well as punk and alternative rock . The music represents the leitmotif of the festival, followed by the visual arts, especially photography and painting, from which the name of the festival can be derived.
Cultural events
In addition to concerts, the festival includes cultural events such as visual arts exhibitions in the cultural spaces of Sibiu, museum exhibitions, film screenings, performances of classical music, lectures, workshops and parties in downtown clubs. The cultural program adapts to both the audience and the medieval citadel. There is a partnership with the Brukenthal Museum and the Muzeul Civilizației Popular Tradiționale "ASTRA" in Sibiu .
Sponsors
Tuborg was integrated into the artistic program of the festival through a TuborgSound platform. TuborgSound has been supporting the festival since 2010. Newcomers and Romanian bands are supported as well as the platform itself.
Harley-Davidson has also sponsored the festival since 2011 .
