Artur Gacaev

Artur Gacaev (born September 23,  1969 ) is a Russian / German basketball coach and former player. He played an A international match for the Russian national team.

career

Gacaev comes from Dagestan and during his playing career he wore Avtodor Saratov's shirt . In 1991, the 1.97-meter-tall winger played an international match for the Russian national team against Denmark. In 1993 Gacaev moved to VfL Bochum in the 2nd basketball league , where he played for four years. In 1997 he moved to TSV Quakenbrück in the second division from Bochum , in 2000 he moved from Lower Saxony to East Westphalia and joined the Paderborn Baskets , for which he also played in the 2nd Bundesliga, before a knee injury ended his career in 2001.

Gacaev became a youth coach in Paderborn, was temporarily also assistant coach of the Paderborn Bundesliga team and took over the post of head coach in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA for the 2010/11 season . In November 2010 he was replaced by Thomas Glasauer after a sportily unsuccessful start to the season  and instead took over the coaching position at Paderborn's partner club, TV Salzkotten  in the regional league. Gacaev remained coach in Salzkotten until 2015, after the 2012/13 season he was named "Coach of the Year" of the 1st Regionalliga West by the internet service eurobasket.com. He also looked after Paderborn's youth performance teams , including in the youth basketball league (NBBL).

In 2016 Gacaev moved to Oldenburg and took over the head coach of the Baskets Akademie Weser-Ems / Oldenburger TB in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB , the youth development team of the Bundesliga club EWE Baskets Oldenburg , as well as the Oldenburg U19 team in the NBBL.
