Artur Kauffmann (born December 10, 1897 in Schwirsen , Thorn district , † June 21, 1942 in Wippra , southern Harz) was a German politician ( NSDAP ).

Live and act

After attending primary school in Briesen , Kauffmann completed an apprenticeship at the city's district office . He later worked for the Ratzeburg district committee and as a department head at the Stolp health insurance association as well as managing director of the Pomeranian state office of the RdO and as head of the Pomeranian state insurance company .

In the NSDAP (membership number 20.925) Kauffmann took over offices as local group leader and district leader, later Gau department head and from August 1934 as deputy Gau leader of Pomerania. From March 1936 until his early retirement on June 30, 1937, Kauffmann was a member of the National Socialist Reichstag for constituency 6 (Pomerania) . In the SS (membership number 13.225) Kauffmann was promoted to Standartenführer on November 9, 1936 .

Kauffmann was released from the SS on June 14, 1937; on June 30, 1937, he resigned from the Reichstag. Before that, the Pomeranian Party Court had applied in January 1937 to warn Kauffmann and to deny him the ability to hold party office for three years. The subject of the party court proceedings were sexual relations between Kauffmann and the wife of a subordinate district chief; at the same time, Kauffmann Gauleiter Franz Schwede had concealed a previous conviction of the Gauamtsleiter for attempted rape.
