Camoradi Racing - Maserati Tipo 61

Lloyd Peter "Lucky" Casner (born August 30, 1928 , † April 10, 1965 in Le Mans ) was an American racing car driver and team owner.

Career

Lloyd Casner trained as a pilot in the early 1950s before turning to motorsport in the mid-1950s. In 1959 he founded the Casner Motor Racing Division, better known as Camoradi Racing . Casner worked as a driver and team boss. He celebrated his greatest success as a driver in 1961 in the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring , which he won together with Masten Gregory on a Maserati "Birdcage" (Tipo 61) .

Casner had a fatal accident in April 1965 on the second day of testing for the Le Mans 24-hour race in a 5-liter Maserati Tipo 154 at the end of the Les Hunaudières straight.
