Artur Kutzelnigg (born July 10, 1904 in Klagenfurt , † January 10, 1984 in Cologne ) was an Austrian-German graduate engineer, professor and one of the most prominent thought leaders in the field of goods theory .

Life

Artur Kutzelnigg was born as the son of a KuK general in Klagenfurt. He graduated in 1922 in Vienna , studied at the Technical University of Vienna , in 1927 acquired the title graduate engineer and received his doctorate in 1928 in the specialist technical chemistry .

In the same year he came as an assistant to the Technological Institute of the University for World Trade of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Serious pouch . He works with Pouch in the fields of color chemistry, with great appreciation.

In 1930 he became a private lecturer in chemistry and technology, including goods science , and in 1939 he was awarded a Dr. Ing.habil. and in 1940 appointed associate professor at the University of World Trade.

In 1943 he accepted a call to Königsberg and 1944 to Nuremberg for a new professorship for goods technology. But the events of that time prevented it from being carried out.

After the Second World War, Kutzelnigg worked in industry as a laboratory manager, where he acquired several patents for the surface treatment of metals and plastics. "The testing of metallic coatings", Saulgau 1960, deserves special mention. Kutzelnigg was involved in many technical committees of the standards system of the Association of German Engineers and Industry.

He edited the volumes Hassack, Beutel: Warenkunde I and II from the Göschen collection (8th edition 1958/59).

1961 He was appointed associate professor and director of the "Institute for Economic Goods teaching " the University of Cologne , so should still be at the instigation of Rudolf Seyffert the warenkundliche tradition in the Federal Republic of Germany there after Viktor Pöschl be resumed. Appointed full professor in 1968, he retired from active service when he reached retirement age in 1972.

During this time, publications appeared, of which "The cigarette as a model case of economic goods theory" (Frankfurt / Main 1962) and the "Terminology of the categories of goods" (Frankfurt / Main 1965) stand out.

His semiological investigations into the conceptual world of goods have become classics. In "Word and Concept 'Ware'", an article in the Festschrift for Edmund Grünsteidl on the occasion of Edmund Grünsteidl 's 70th birthday, Kutzelnigg proves an overall view that goes far beyond the spirit of the times: He states that in the scientific study of goods, the relationship between humans and their environment - and that the term "goods", which has been narrowed down by development, is obsolete, but now as a generic term would include everything that is named in sub-areas as product, product, material, supply item, etc.

Kutzelnigg has a pioneering place in the history of commodity science . He represented the concept of a use-oriented merchandise theory. The thematic abundance of his publications points in the direction of a consumer-oriented theory of goods, which in turn has to be holistic .

Kutzelnigg died in 1984 at the age of 79 and was born in the grave of his wife Hilde. Laubner (1906–1980) was buried in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne . Their daughter Irmgard Gonska (1938–1992) was later buried there.
