Asian Youth Day

The Asian Youth Day (AJT; English: Asian Youth Day, AYD) is one of a series of major events of the Roman Catholic Church in different regions of the world that take place between the years with World Youth Days . Every few years, thousands of teenagers and young adults meet here for a few days (usually a week) in one place. The Asian Youth Day is organized jointly by the respective diocese and the Office for Laity and Family of the Federation of Asian Bishops' Conferences (FABC).

The previous Asian Youth Days:

The last Asian Youth Day took place from August 10th to 17th, 2014 in Daejeon ( Diocese of Daejeon , South Korea ). 6000 young people took part. On this occasion Pope Francis visited the country from August 14th to 18th and on August 15th he beatified 124 martyrs of the persecution of Christians in Korea in the 18th and 19th centuries during the Joseon Dynasty in front of 800,000 believers (see also: Shrine of Korean Martyrs ). The motto of the youth day is related to this: Asian Youth, wake up! The glory of the martyrs shines on you (Youth of Asia, wake up! The glory of the martyrs shines on you).
