Imus (officially: Municipality of Imus ; Filipino : Bayan ng Imus ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Cavite .

history

In the early 17th century, Imus was part of Cavite el Viejo , today's Kawit . It was founded as an independent municipality on October 3, 1795.

Imus was the scene of great Katipunero victories during the Philippine Revolution against the Spanish Empire . The Battle of Imus took place on September 3, 1896 and the Battle of Alapan on May 28, 1898, when the flag of the Philippines was first hoisted. This is celebrated annually in Imus. The Imus Historical Museum traces the history of the township and shows lifelike scenes of the Philippine Revolution.
