General Mariano Alvarez (officially: Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez ; Filipino : Bayan ng Heneral Mariano Alvarez ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Cavite .
The municipality is named after General Mariano Alvarez , a famous son of the municipality of Noveleta .
history
The Municipality of General Mariano Alvarez was founded on May 14, 1981, making it the youngest municipality in the province of Cavite. General Mariano Alvarez previously belonged to the parish of Carmona .
The place was previously known to the Carmona Resettlement Project . This settlement project served to relocate settlers who had settled wild in some areas in Quezon City , Manila and Makati .
The first mayor of General Mariano Alvarez was Leoniso G. Virata, who took the oath of office on the founding day of the municipality, along with the other members of the city government and the president of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC).
In 2006, the municipality celebrated the 25th anniversary.

General Mariano Alvarez was originally divided into ten barangays .
On March 25, 1985, the originally ten barangays were restructured and today's 27 barangays were formed. Some of these were named after well-known sons of Cavite Province and the ten former Baranggay captains who were in office before the restructuring.
