General Emilio Aguinaldo (officially: Municipality of General Emilio Aguinaldo , formerly Bailen ; Filipino : Bayan ng Heneral Emilio Aguinaldo ) is a Filipino municipality in the province of Cavite . It is named after Emilio Aguinaldo , the first President of the Philippines.

history
The Parishes General Emilio Aguinaldo was previously a parish in the Maragondon parish . It was founded by decree issued by Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Manila Fray Aranguren on August 28, 1857. The Barrios Batas and Guyong-guyong were separated from Maragondon by the decree . The name of the new church was Bailen. Some residents of the Barrios Batas petitioned the Spanish Governor General of the Philippines, Fernando Norzagaray , to make their barrio an independent community. The Spanish governor granted the request on August 2, 1858. Bailen, the former name of the place is derived from the Spanish word bailar (dt .: dance ). Other speculations suggest that it was named after the Spanish city of Bailén of the same name. The American civil government (1899–1901) reduced the number of parishes. The Philippine Commission passed Act 947 on October 15, 1903 , which attached the parishes of Bailen and Mendez Alfonso , making Bailen a Barrio Alfonsos. The Philippine Commission reorganized the entire Cavite Province for the second time in 1904. The number of their communities was reduced from 22 to nine "city groups". Bailen became an independent municipality again in 1915.
