history

Stammer coat of arms

The village of Asmusstedt, which is said to have been built by Asmus von Stammer, was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . In 1821 bones and broken urns were found. Remnants of foundation walls have been discovered earlier. It could have been the remains of a church. Today's district Asmusstedt emerged from a Vorwerk of the Ballenstedt domain . This is not far from the deserted village and was built by the Lords of Stammer . For example, Asmusstedt is mentioned in 1833 as the ducal domain of the Ballenstedt Castle Vorwerk in the Ballenstedt office within the Duchy of Anhalt-Bernburg . The purchase by Duke Alexius Friedrich Christian was therefore made in 1825 together with the Stamm'schen Oberhof , which also belonged to the castle grounds . In the years 1827 to 1831 new farm buildings were built south of the village. At the same time, a road was built which connected sandstone quarries to the south via Asmusstedt with the north-facing village of Badeborn .
