Astrid Stadler (legal scholar)

Astrid Stadler (born September 4, 1959 in Ulm ) is a German legal scholar and professor of civil law , civil procedural law , international private law and comparative law .

Life

After studying law at the University of Konstanz , Astrid Stadler worked as an assistant at the chair of Rolf Stürner , where she also received her doctorate in 1988 with a dissertation on the protection of corporate secrets in German and US civil proceedings as well as legal assistance proceedings. In 1990 and 1992 she was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley , School of Law (Boalt Hall). 1993 habilitation them at the University of Freiburg with a comparative thesis on freedom and traffic protection by abstraction . In 1994 she was appointed professor at the University of Konstanz to the chair for civil law, civil procedural law, international private law and comparative law. On August 1, 2011, she was appointed to the Chair of Comparative Mass Litigation at the Erasmus University Rotterdam for a partial professorship .

In addition to contract and property law, her research focuses on national, European and international civil procedural law as well as collective legal protection.

Astrid Stadler is married and has two children.

Other activities

Astrid Stadler is u. a. Chairwoman of the Baden-Württembergische China-Gesellschaft eV (BWCG), since 2004 member of the permanent deputation at the German Lawyers' Association and member of the scientific advisory board "Consumer and Nutrition Policy " at the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection .
