Aušra Maldeikienė

Aušra Maldeikienė ( Seibutytė ; born June 4, 1958 in Palanga ) is a Lithuanian economist, non-party politician , publicist, business educator . She has been a member of the European Parliament since July 2019 . From autumn 2016 to July 2019 she was a member of Semas .

Life

After graduation in 1976 at the Antanas-Vienuolis -Mittelschule Vilnius Aušra Seibutytė studied at the Faculty of Finance and Credit of the University of Vilnius (UV). In 1982 she completed her diploma as an economist and teacher of political economy at Moscow University . From 1982 to 1984 she worked at the UV and taught at the Lietuvos žemės ūkio akademija in the district of Kaunas . From 1984 to 1987 she completed her traineeship in Moscow and in 1987 did her doctorate on the subject of “Basic economic law of socialism under conditions of intensive economy” and became a candidate for science.

From 1987 she taught at the Lietuvos veterinarijos akademija in Kaunas . From 1990 she was a columnist for the daily newspaper Lietuvos rytas . From 1993 to 1997 she worked as a press representative and PR department head at Vilniaus bankas . From 1997 to 2000 she was the chief editor of the economic department of the BNS news agency . From 1999 to 2003 she taught economics at the VU Tarptautinio verslo mokykla and from 2001 to 2013 at the Jesuit grammar school in Vilnius . From 2004 she was a lecturer at the Faculty of Mathematics at Vilnius University. In 2007 she completed her master's degree in religious studies at Vilnius University .

politics

Before 2009, Maldeikienė was a member of the Liberalų Demokratieų partija . From 2015 to 2016, Maldeikienė was a member of the Vilnius Municipality Council as a candidate for the Lietuvos sąrašas party . In October 2016 she was elected as an independent member of the Seimas . She ran for the European elections in 2019 on her own list with the name "Public Election Committee Aušra Maldeikienės Zug". She was elected to the European Parliament with 6.10% of the vote. Her admission to the Greens / EFA group was prevented by a veto of the representative of the LVŽS , after which she joined the group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) .

Aušra Maldeikienė was married to the politician Eugenijus Maldeikis (* 1958) from 1979 to 2017 . They have two sons: Matas Maldeikis (* 1980) and Mykolas Maldeikis (* 1987).
