According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 6.5 km², of which 6.5 km² is land and 0.0 km² (= 0.40%) is water. At Au Sable Forks, the eastern and western arms of the Ausable River converge, which then continues on its way to Lake Champlain .
US Highway 9N runs through the village in an east-west direction.
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Au Sable Fork lived in 670 people. The population density was 103.5 people per km ². There were 294 housing units at an average of 45.4 per km ². The population of Au Sable Forks was 98.51% White , 0.30% Black or African American , 0.15% Native American , 0% Asian , 0% Pacific Islander , 0% said they were of other races and 1, 04% named two or more races. 0.15% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Au Sable Forks distributed to 265 households out of which 33.6% were living in children under 18 years of age. 53.2% of households were married, 10.6% had a female head of household without a husband, and 33.6% were not families. 29.8% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 17.4% of all households aged 65 years or older.
