history
The name of the settlement Auf dem Krämersfeld comes from the name of the Aufm Kraemersfeld . The place is recorded in the original cadastre southeast of Fahn . What is meant by this is the parcel belonging to the so-called “ Krämergut” . The name is reminiscent of one of the earliest settlement centers in the Odenthal area. The Krämersgut was created in the high medieval rode epoch between 958 and 992 as a fiefdom of the Osenauer Herrenhof. An entry from 1414 lists the Krämersgut as Krämers gutt .
etymology
A clear determination of the meaning of this settlement name is not possible. In field names, the qualifier Kram / Kräm means a small inherited property . The Middle High German kram originally referred to a stretched cloth or a tent cover to cover a junk stand. In today's sense, a shopkeeper is a dealer .
