Differences is a district in the Schildgen district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The name Unterscheid goes back to the Hofstelle Unterscheid, which was created as a fief of the manorial estate of Osenau in the high medieval rode epoch . In 1414 the settlement was mentioned in the court register of the Osenau rule in the form of Schaidt and in the tithe list of 1602 it was referred to as the Gut zum Scheit . In 1830 the farm had 19 residents.
etymology
Scheid is derived from the Old High German sceit (= border). In field names it denotes a boundary that is often a wooded elevation between two valleys as a dividing line. The settlement is consequently a lower limit and thus refers to the district boundary to Odenthal .
