history

Around 1830 a new Protestant church was required in Poppenlauer. On the one hand, the local evangelical community had grown to 690 members, so that the previous church building turned out to be too small. On the other hand, the abolition of the Simultaneum in Poppenlauer on December 29, 1832 strengthened the desire for their own place of worship.

Construction work began in 1834 under the architect Aquilin Glückstein. On August 21, 1836 the inauguration of the Church of the Resurrection , built in the neo-Romanesque style, took place.

From 1954 to 1960 an extensive renovation of the church took place under the architect Olaf Andreas Gulbransson ; Repairs followed in 1998.
