Recorder
A recorder (from Latin : recordari = to remember) is a device for recording and reproducing electrical signals , in particular of an audio-visual type. The signal recording by a recorder can be analog or digitized .

There are different types of devices, for example:

Audio recorder :
- Tape recorders
- Cassette recorder
- Dictation machines , suitable for voice recordings, e.g. B. Voice memos or dictations. Sometimes dictation machines are also known as note-taking machines . Digital recorders are to be distinguished from this . These are of higher quality and can also be used for music recordings because of a larger frequency range
- Answering machine
- Voice recorder for recording noises and conversations in air traffic
- Digital recorders that digitally record all sound signals on memory cards
- Combinations of different devices, for example:
Media types
- Audio : noises , music , radio plays , etc.
- Video : running pictures , mostly with audio
- other types of signals: brain waves , heart waves (e.g. measuring recorders in physics, medicine, etc.), such recording devices are usually not referred to as "recorders".
